Apartment Tower in Guadalajara
Competition Entry – Unbuilt
Location: Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico
This competition was for an apartment tower adjacent to an existing park. The tower included three equally sized apartments per floor and private garden areas on the ground floor and rooftop for use by the residents. The program requirement was to retain the existing historic facades at the street corner, which this design uses as the garden enclosure. The apartments on the east side are contained within a series of stacked concrete boxes that oscillate back and forth at each level. They are supported by angled steel columns at the base creating a very open and light filled garden under the new building.
