This house places the living spaces on the upper floor allowing people to experience the full effect of the dramatic A-Frame shape from the open Great Room.  To keep the house compact, the three bedrooms are located efficiently under the Great Room with large glass doors for views and access to the ground floor patios.  Kitchen cabinets extend into the Living and Dining areas to maximize storage on the upper level, while a generous Foyer allows for ski equipment or other recreational gear storage on the first floor.  Another unique feature of this A-frame house is the cross-gable A-Frame that intersects the main A-Frame creating a dramatic and spacious entry experience. At 1,726 SF, it is right-sized for sustainable living, a vacation home, or an Airbnb.
This design promotes an environmentally sustainable and healthy structure and is affordable to maintain as the building ages. Some of the features are as follows:

• The super-insulated building shell uses 2x12 roof framing with GAF ThermaCal® Insulated Panels for R60 roof insulation.
• The extra insulation combined with a smaller building size means that the house will use less energy to heat and cool.
• Durable fiber cement and metal siding for the exterior finishes reduce long-term maintenance costs.
• Interior materials are specified to be low or no VOC to provide healthy indoor air quality.
